The winter blues don’t have to keep you and your family from enjoying your holidays. Here’s a list of our top 5 family-friendly activities to experience in Saskatoon this winter.

Let’s start outdoors. It’s not winter just yet, and there’s still plenty to see without freezing any fingers off. So bust out that parka, grab a hot chocolate, and let your family discover the beauty of the Canadian prairies.
Tourism Saskatoon has compiled a list of the best parks and trails to check out in the Saskatoon area.
Our favourite is the Beaver Creek Conservation Area, because, as the name suggests, you can spot actual beavers.
Take a trip back in time and experience Saskatoon from 1910 to now at the Western Development Museum. They have locations in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, and Yorkton. Each location offers a unique experience based on the history of that location.
There are tons to see and do (like the magic kitchen).
Just note that some of the facilities (like the Boomtown Photo Studio) are currently closed. But the museum has implemented tons of health and safety protocols to make sure everyone can enjoy the rest of the facility and stay safe.

It wouldn’t be a complete Canadian list of winter activities if we didn’t mention skating.
The perfect outdoor activity, no matter your skill level. Saskatoon has more than 50 outdoor rinks to enjoy, but you can also enjoy one of their 5 indoor areas on days when the weather is at its worst.
One of the most popular rinks is the Clarence Downey Speed Skating area, which offers lots of free open skate times.

A 100% child focused museum and play place. Nutrien Playland encourages learning through play and is one of the best family-friendly activities Saskatoon has to offer. All children have to be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age for their stay (which means that you also get to enjoy the experience).

Mar’s Mini Golf offers a truly unique mini-golf experience. And a great indoor option for everyone to enjoy. Their 3D glow-in-the-dark 18-hole course boasts pirate adventure themes, glow paint, and the option to wear 3D glasses as you golf.
